The party will take place in the John Street section of Brooklyn Bridge Park, and is sponsored by One John Street.

An extraordinary collection of ultra-premium oysters will be curated by Master Mermmelier™ Kevin Joseph of The OysterHood. They’ll be shucked live, in the round by some of NYC’s finest shuckers. Guests will forage from station to station sampling a dozen varieties of east & west coast oysters, dressed with fine mignonettes. Chef Marc Murphy of Ditch Plains will add to the experience with sustainable seafood dishes including clams Provençal and grilled coconut curry mussels. Paired beer (lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery) and wine will round out the evening.

Live music will be provided by the acclaimed Americana band Jan Bell and the Maybelles, and the John Street lawn will be filled with fun games. The Billion Oyster Project and the Conservancy’s education team will be on hand to provide information on the Hudson River estuary, the lifecycle of east coast oysters, and oyster shell recycling.

Ticket includes unlimited raw bar with 12 varieties of east and west coast oysters, beer and wine.

DOING SOME GOOD
The shells form the oysters we eat WILL NOT go to a landfill. They will all be recycled by Billion Oyster Project for oyster reef restoration projects in NY Harbor. Some quick math reveals that this event alone will result in the restoration of as many as 100,000 oysters in our waters as one oyster shell be used to restore as many as 100 oysters. And since mature oysters will filter about 50 gallons of water per day, that means, that every day 5,000,000 gallons of NY Harbor’s water could be filtered from just this one event. So there are 5,000,000 good reasons to come with a friend. Who knows, maybe you’ll even find a new ShuckBuddy there. You’re welcome.
