THE OYSTERMEN: We’re inviting all those whose oysters we are featuring. Come and meet a few of the fine folks who grow and forage these oysters.
BEER from Blue Point Brewing Company, The Official Beer of New York Oyster Week!
Toasted Lager: Blue Point’s flagship and most popular brew, Toasted Lager is the best American Amber Lager you’ll ever taste. To back up that claim, they use six different grains to perfect a balanced flavor of malt and hops, and a special proprietary lager yeast to give Toasted Lager an exceptional, long-lasting smooth finish that’s meant to be enjoyed year-round. Pairs perfectly with fresh seafood … or any food for that matter
RastafaRye: RastafaRye Ale is a copper-colored hearty rye malt that’s blended with the perfect amount of fresh West Coast hops. It’s got just the right balance of rye to offset the hops’ spicy, floral characteristics.
Mosaic: This light, straw-colored, West Coast style IPA packs a serious aroma coupled with strong tropical fruit characteristics, complemented by a light body and dry finish. It’s got everything you want and more from a typical IPA, making this the perfect year-round session ale.
Oktoberfest: Blue Point’s version of this traditional autumn lager boasts a sweet malt aroma with notes of caramel and tastes of bready, toasted malts with a subtle sweetness. The flavors are rounded out with a hint of hops in the finish.
Pumpkin: Our golden orange-colored Pumpkin Ale is brewed with real pumpkin and spices to produce a delicious taste of fall.
Oyster Stout: Oyster shells started appearing in beer in the early 1900s. It is believed that shells were used as finings to clarify the beer and that their calcium carbonate content may have improved the water chemistry. With all of the oysters around Long Island, it only made sense for us to take a crack at brewing a version of our own. Today, we use local oyster shells and bay salt as a modern method of continuing the tradition of the style.
Summer Ale: Our refreshing Summer Ale is brewed using a substantial portion of wheat malt added to a traditional barley malt mix. This blend creates a unique tartness not commonly found in light ales.
OYSTER ALTERNATIVES: Addition food and beverages will be available from Ellington in the Park
SHUCK TRUCK: The world’s fastest (and most mobile) shucking station, the ’shuck truck’, will be onsite to provide the perfect backdrop for your event selfie post. Guests will also have an opportunity to learn to shuck and eat oysters in VIP style for a suggested $20 donation to the Billion Oyster Project. Members of the Billion Oyster Project will be on hand collection shell that will be used to create new fortifying and water-purifying oyster reefs in the New York Harbor.
